MANILA, Philippines — With Barangay Ginebra already securing a spot in the quarterfinals, coach Tim Cone decided to rest several of his key players in preparation for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.
Stephen Holt made a strong impact in his time on the court, helping the Gin Kings edge out Meralco 91-87 on Wednesday night.
“It’s always the next man up mentality with us, whoever’s on the floor, they’re just five guys connecting for our offense,” Holt stated.
“Now, we just have to continue this momentum in the playoffs,” he added.
Holt finished the game with 13 points and three rebounds in 21 minutes of play, while RJ Abarrientos led the scoring with 17 points.
Finishing the elimination round in fourth place with an 8-4 record, Holt and the Gin Kings are now preparing for their quarterfinal matchup against Meralco, a familiar opponent, in a best-of-three series.
“I’m just trying to be efficient with my shots and trying to create. For me and all of us, it’s all about preparing for the playoffs and how we go about our business,” Holt said.
“I’m super excited to regroup with the guys that we have and try to win that championship,” he concluded.
